What to expect for your first massage appointment

No special preparation required for your massage. All you need to do is shower and show up.

The clients medical history will be taken and any potential issues will be discussed to ensure the clients well being. Depending on your preference your therapist will use a lotion to reduce friction on your skin. Inform your therapist if you have sensitive skin or any known allergies.

The therapist will then leave the room. Clients typically undress to their personal comfort level, lie on the table, and cover themselves with a blanket. A knock at the door will confirm you are covered and ready to proceed. At that point, the therapist will enter to begin the service.

The client should always feel calm and comfortable during the massage.

If the pressure needs to be adjusted, please speak up. The most serious problems are attributed to too much pressure during a massage. Communication is key to a massage that is perfect for you.

It is normal to feel sore after a massage. After stimulating muscles that you may not normally use, you might experience delayed onset muscle soreness. This is a physical response to the inflammation as your body heals, and is completely normal. The techniques used carry blood and nutrients to your muscles while eliminating toxins. Drinking water will help to flush these toxins from your body.
